It is a blend of Christian composition mixed with the grungiest, lowest forms of life in our fair city of london. These comparisons highlight our similarities and differences throughout all our cultures.

hello peoples

of late, i have been working for Libidex Latex, doing at first photoretouching for their new male range, and then some bits and pieces of design work here and there, such as adverts and web banners, things like that.

It is fun! where else could i come home from work, and upon being asked what i have done today, reply "well, today i created a christmas newsletter, featuring a motif of a reindeer with a massive penis!"

I love this job. The work is now few and far between but worth it.

Apart from this work, I have done a couple of photoshoots, and some other bits and pieces, I'll see if i can remember.

I was a zombie for Alice Cooper's halloween show again! there were many more of us this time, it didn't feel so exclusive but was still very fun. Here's a couple of photos of Alex and I, then I shall proceed with photos and images from recent creative escapades. My make up was done by Audrey Raemakers, pictured with us :)

on easter sunday, alex and i were asked to be a zombie prince william and kate middleton in the first annual sci-fi london parade along southbank.

it was utterly bizarre and totally fantastic.

we must have had about 15,000 photographs taken of us, all as i was surely breaking the guiness world record for the longest gurn!!

i wanna do it again....!!!

happy new year to you all! here's a catch up on some of the winter's creative fruits:

these are the designs i created for my christmas cards, which were in a few select festival of sins goodiebags and also i sold some- as well as using for my family and friends!

soon before christmas day, in somerset, my friend and i braved the snow to get some fun pics- although it was more for the experience (very refreshing!) we took some cool photos. here's one, of moi, taken by sophie and edited by me :)

this is my talented cousin jennie, who performs at wookey hole doing all manner of awesome circus treats. i love the contrast of fire and snow. these were taken on christmas morning- our family was waiting to open presents but i'm so glad we got these photos!

i recently did these illustrations for miss alternative uk, which is run by the antichrist alternative community! was great fun and sad it's over haha!

only two weeks til the halloween antichrist event, where i am exhibiting and also playing exquisite corpse with the crowd! exciting! gonna be a mental halloween.... eighties matchbox b-line disaster on the 27th, cancer bats AND antichrist on the 29th, and then down to somerset on the 31st for halloween stuffs with the coven, and possibly something on the 30th too- i can hibernate in november, right?! heee!

This halloween i shall be mostly exhibiting my work at Club Antichrist in Vauxhall! -after seeing Cancer Bats play Electric Ballroom, of course!- I am also playing some arty games with the publique, namely "Exquisite Corpse"; a drawing game where people take turns drawing a body in sections, not seeing the whole thing, just their sections, with hilarious results when the paper is unfurled.

I was asked to create a Halloween illustration for the flyer and here's what I came up with;

of late, i have been helping out with a festival called the dark mills festival. i have been a general assistant in design and web content editing, and other such tasks. it's great!

i designed the character and logo and chose the fonts, but can't claim credit for the whole design.

i have also been working on the programme for the event, to be sold on the day. it has proven to be a task of epic proportions, but i am determined to make it a proper piece of art worth keeping. ...i am ever so sleepy though...!!
ah, i may compain about working for 15 1/2 hours practically straight, but i love it really. tis why i'm in the business!

oh yeah! i shall be exhibiting at this event, in the crypt, alongside chris achilleos, graham humphreys, and terry english! wowza!

been rather slack on the blog posting front of late.

okay, new stuffs... new camera! splashed out on a D5000. it's rather yummy, crisp, good in low light, has video, swivelly view finder with live view, automatic image sensor cleaning, 12mp of goodness, yaaay

here's some piccies i took with some friends yesterday, showing off the drag fiend crew gear :)

still lower light than i would like to take pics in, i guess lighting is next on the list of stuff to buy. my ring flash is still around, but looks kinda tacky next to the new camera!!

can't wait til the summer, you can't beat natural light in photographs!!

what else... err am a full time photo retoucher at the studios now, luckily they've condensed 5 days into 4 so, although they're long days i get a three day weekend yay :) so hopefully i can keep working on my own stuff on the weekends and save up to give myself a good chance at freelancing too, whooooo :D

here's a canvas i did recently, towards my new set of artworks, which i hope to exhibit in the summer sometime. the concepts will become clear as they emerge.

it's nearly christmas...!!

...and like everyone else i've got the pre christmas rush on! a last minute 2 day commission, there was the book launch at festival of sins last saturday, a part time job AND christmas shopping!! arrghh!! i am TERRIBLE at keeping this thing updated but i'm all nicely settled into my new home, with internet, so that should get better.

i'm getting ahead of myself!

i'm renting again! i know i know, gave in to the system and what not. but my creativity was suffering and sometimes one has to prioritise.

the book launch! yes, the wonderful people at festival of sins were lovely and held it at their christmas "immorality" event.

my new job has taught me a lot about retouching photos. here are a couple of quick self portraits i've done recently with my new skills!

the first is using a ring flash hand triggered away from the camera to create the lighting effect. unfortunately it did not belong to me, but i think it will be a worthy investment for the future!

the second is checking out the high pass technique i was recently shown at work. i really like the effect and may make it more of a feature in my photography style!

the third is of my friend sabine, taken in very tricky lighting conditions. i really like the final effect on this photograph.

i don't think my style as it develops will be about creating an entirely natural look. as with my illustration, i want to bring something a little extra to the image to make it interesting. i can save the natural look for the photo studio work!

i also will feature the panoramic format within my work as well.

and i also hope to get time to get out and about photographing other people soon too!

Recently I submitted a pet portrait into a charity auction for a local child needing chemotherapy. It reached £85!! I hope the gentleman who bid is pleased with result. Yes his cat is that fat, poor thing, got hit by a car so has a damaged tummy and only half a tail! The parrot was awesome, he said "hello" to me when he saw me... freaky!!! Anyways, done in time for christmas, hooray, and looks like I've got another 3 or 4 pet portrait commissions from people who bid but didn't win... my graphic novel is gonna have to wait just a leeetle while... good job it's coming along so well!

This is a quick photoshoppage of an owl image used in the graphic novel I'm working on with Neil. He is much smaller on the page, but I liked the image enough to do a quick something else with him, stand him alone, he deserves it :) The little image on it is my new imagestamp. Will be on all my stuff from now on. To show it's MINE!! ;)
